OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
At K+K Hotel Central, we believe that modern hospitality can exist in perfect harmony with environmental responsibility.
Sustainability is an integral part of our team’s philosophy, shaping our daily operations and our approach to guests, business partners, and colleagues.
The goal of our recently established internal Green Key Team is to obtain the prestigious international Green Key certification.
WHAT IS GREEN KEY?
Green Key is an internationally recognized eco-label awarded to tourism establishments that meet high standards of environmentally responsible operations.
Established in 1994, the program is managed by the international charity, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and its national member organisations.
The Green Key certification provides a clear framework for systematic environmental management — covering areas such as water and energy use, waste reduction, environmental education for guests, staff and suppliers and many more.
To earn the Green Key label, establishments must meet strict criteria, with compliance verified regularly through detailed documentation and on-site audits. The certification is valid for one year at a time. Today, there are over 8000 Green Key-certified establishments in over 90 countries worldwide.
For our guests, the Green Key symbol is a guarantee that their stay respects the environment and supports a more sustainable way of traveling. For more information, please visit the Green Key website or reach out directly at info@fee.global.

JOIN OUR EFFORTS
We invite you to join us — together we can make a difference for the environment.
- Save energy: Leaving your room? Please turn off the lights, air conditioning, or heating.
- Reuse towels: Help save water by reusing your towels. Simply hang them up if you wish to reuse them; towels left on the floor will be replaced. A simple act that contributes to environmental protection.
- Reduce food waste: Not sure how much you’ll eat? Take smaller portions at breakfast — you can always return for more.
- Choose eco-friendly transport: Thanks to our central location, most of Prague’s major attractions are within walking distance. You can easily explore the city on foot or use public transport, or shared bikes.
For more information about bike rental options, feel free to contact our reception. - Water: Water dispensers are available on the hotel floors, where you can conveniently refill your bottle and reduce the use of single-use plastic.
- “Plant a Tree” Program: Did you know that skipping daily room cleaning helps save water and energy? For each day you opt out of housekeeping, we fund the planting of two trees in Czech forests.
“PLANT A TREE” PROGRAM
At K+K Hotel Central, we want a sustainable stay to be more than just a promise — we want it to make a real impact. Every hotel stay has an environmental impact, which is why we created the “Plant a Tree” program, giving our guests the opportunity to contribute to real, measurable change.
How does it work?
Each room cleaning consumes water, energy, and cleaning products. By choosing to skip your daily cleaning, you help reduce these resources — and in return, we will plant two trees in Czech forests on your behalf.
Simply hang the “Make a Greener Choice” card on your door handle, and we’ll ensure that new trees find their place in the forest.
Local Collaboration
In the past, we supported global tree-planting projects, but we have now decided to focus our efforts locally — right here in the Czech Republic.
Since October 2025, we have partnered with the Czech environmental organization “Zasaď život” (“Plant a life”), which specializes in professional tree planting and biodiversity restoration across the country.
Through this collaboration, we contribute to the regeneration of local forests and help protect the natural environment that is an inseparable part of our lives.
Together with experts from “Zasaď život”, we calculated the actual water use and carbon footprint associated with cleaning one room. Based on this data, and in consultation with Czech foresters, we determined that planting two trees compensates for the impact of cleaning one room.
Every sustainable choice you make has a measurable outcome — visible in the form of newly growing trees across the Czech Republic.
Our First Tree Planting in the Czech Republic
In November 2025, our hotel management team personally planted 250 trees as part of a company teambuilding event. It was a valuable opportunity to see how our efforts translate into tangible results — and a powerful reminder that even small changes in daily operations can make a real difference.
